Cartoonist Godfrey Mwampembwa, a.k.a GADO was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on August 6, 1969. Till recently, GADO has the editorial cartoonist for the Nation Newspapers In Nairobi, the largest newspaper in east and central Africa. He is most Syndicated Political/Editorial cartoonist in the East and Central Africa. An ardent lover of animation and film since childhood, GADO studied Classical animation in 2000-2001, at Vancouver Film School in Canada, He is the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Buni Media, an independent Multi-media company based in Nairobi. Gado is a creator and Producer of the controversial weekly satirical puppet show, The XYZ SHOW now, in its 10th season, running on KTN. Gado is a 2007 Prince Claus Laureate. He is also a winner of Kenya National Human Rights Commission Award in Journalism in 2005 and 2007. In 2011 Gado was among 12 extraordinary leaders to receive a Visionaries Award from Ford Foundation for their innovative efforts on the frontlines of key social issues. In 2014, Gado was named as one of the 100 most influential people in Africa. He lives in Nairobi with his wife Stephanie and daughters Mwaji-Odeta and Keza-Anganile.
