#MCB16 Speaker: Luciano Floridi and Edward Snowden on Life in the Infosphere

We are happy to announce a speaker at MEDIA CONVENTION Berlin:
Luciano Floridi, dubbed the "digital philosopher of our age" by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, is professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information at Oxford and Director of Research at the Oxford Internet Institute. He was a member of the expert advisory group established by Google to explore the consequences of the Court of Justice of the European Union’s 2014 ruling on ‘the right to be forgotten’. Recently the EU appointed him to a high-level ethics committee dealing with data security. In his latest, highly acclaimed book, "The Fourth Revolution – How the infosphere is reshaping human reality", Floridi shows how we’re in the middle of a fourth revolution that is completely changing our lives. He believes mankind is creating a new environment called the infosphere in which the distinction between online and off-line is disappearing.

At #MCB16 Luciano Floridi and other experts will tackle the questions that arise from the infosphere, the points where media and internet policy overlap from the use of the media online: how is the digital age changing our living environment and our self image? What skills do we need to deal with machines that are arguably smarter than us? What legal, democratic and ethical infrastructures do we require to ensure that this technological progress in a borderless space is also social and cultural progress that’s as inclusive as possible? There will be a live link-up with whistleblower Edward Snowden.
